3-0-3. Prerequisites: undergraduate level probability and statistics, fluency in a general
purpose programming language such as FORTRAN or C. This course covers modeling of
discrete-event dynamic systems and introduces methods for using these models to solve
engineering design and analysis problems. Topics include simulation world views, input
modeling, random number and variate generation, verification and validation, output analysis, and
comparison of competing systems. The course will make heavy use of ARENA, a discrete-event
simulation package.
